Trade test centres — profile, staff, classes and serial numbers
Registering a trade test centre, its accredited trades, documents, assessors and moderators, classes, enrolled learners and trade test serial numbers.
The list of centres
Trade Test Centres lists every centre with its accreditation number, name, physical address, province and accreditation period (the earliest trade start to the latest trade end). The cards count the centres, the provinces covered and the centres still missing a physical address. Filter by Accreditation number, Centre name or Province, Export to Excel, or Register New Trade Test Centre.
The centre profile
The badge in the header says whether you are viewing, editing or creating the centre. Save the Detail tab first; the other tabs open once the centre exists.
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Detail | Accreditation number, centre name, contact person, telephone, cell, e-mail, and physical and postal address with province. Edit, then Save. |
| Trades | The accredited trades. Add or renew a trade: choose the trade (the OFO occupation follows), Accredited from and until, Save trade. Adding a trade already listed updates its dates; Renew and Remove work on a row. |
| Support Documents | Upload document (type, file, comments). Chips show how many are uploaded and how many required documents are still needed. |
| Staff | The assessor and moderator for each trade, and the assessors and moderators linked to the centre. |
| Trade Test Registration | Registration documents and serial numbers — below. |
| Classes | Add New Class; Learners adds or removes learners, Edit and Delete work on a class (Planned, Running, Completed). |
| Enrolled Learners | Every learner registered at the centre with trade, employer, attempts, last test and status (Registered, Tested, Competent, Certificated). Open goes to the learner; Export to Excel. |
Adding a class
In the class form choose How the class is funded: SETA Funded (a discretionary grant) or Industry Funded (paid by the employer). Type the Employer SDL number; the employer fills in and its approved DG contracts (or workplace approvals) are listed. Choosing a contract fills in the route, trade, provider, dates and class size, and names anything that does not fit the centre. Then confirm the Trade (only the centre's accredited trades; it cannot change once the class has learners), the Route (Apprenticeship, ARPL, RPL or Learnership), the Training provider, start and end dates and class size, and Create class.
Trade test registration and serial numbers
Assessor and Moderator Registration Documents lists the people on the Staff tab with their registration number, trades and document status: Not uploaded, Awaiting verification or Verified. Upload or Replace the registration document; a replaced document must be verified again.
Trade Test Serial Numbers lists each learner's trade test with its assessor, moderator and attempts. Allocate serial becomes available once both the assessor and the moderator are on the Staff tab and verified. The number reads, for example, FPM202610FT4491: FPM, the year and month, FT (or RPL for RPL and ARPL learners) and a SETA-wide running number. Attempts 2 and 3 keep the same number.
Verifying registration documents and allocating serial numbers is limited to the designated Artisan Development officer and IT administrators. Other staff and centre users can upload documents but do not see Verify or Allocate serial.
What a centre user sees
A trade test centre logs in with its own account, linked by the SETA to its centre. It sees only its own centre(s): My Details, My Centre (the profile above), Trade Test Registration and its Applications — see Trade test centre applications. An account not yet linked to a centre is told to contact the SETA.
