Trade test centre applications and evaluation
How a centre applies for trades, and how the SETA allocates, evaluates and approves the application and sends the accreditation report.
An application moves through these statuses: Draft → Submitted → Under Evaluation → Awaiting Approval → Approved (or Rejected), with Feedback Required and Resubmitted when the SETA sends it back, and Sent to NAMB at the end.
Applying (the centre)
Trade Test Centre Applications lists the centre's applications; filter by centre, trade type, status or Quick find.
- New application. If your details are incomplete you are asked to Complete my bio information first.
- Choose Existing centre or Satellite Office, the trade test centre and the trade type, and Create.
- Work through the five steps:
- Centre & Trade Type — check the details and Save detail. The trades the centre is already accredited for are shown.
- Trades Applied For — choose each trade (the OFO occupation follows) and Add trade.
- Assessors & Moderators — choose the register (assessor or moderator), the person and the trade, and Link person. Only people on the SETA's register can be chosen, and every trade needs at least one assessor and one moderator.
- Supporting Documents — upload the documents required for the trade type.
- Verify & Submit — Submit for QA review.
An application can be changed only while it is a Draft or Feedback Required. Once approved, Centre profile opens the centre.
Evaluating (the SETA)
Trade Test Centre Evaluation opens with a card per status and an Unallocated card; click a card to list those applications.
- Allocate and evaluate — choose the evaluator. The allocated evaluator then clicks Evaluate.
- The evaluation page shows the progress steps (submitted, evaluator allocated, checklist verified, trades evaluated, sent for approval, decided) and the centre's contact.
- Verification checklist — tick each item, add a note and Save.
- Trades applied for — Judge each trade (or qualification group) Awarded or Not awarded, with comments. Add a trade or Remove one if needed.
- Assessors and moderators — Judge each person. Download documents gets the supporting documents.
- Then either Send feedback to the centre (status Feedback Required), Reject application, or Send for approval once every trade is judged.
The manager opens it with Review and approve and chooses Approve or Reject application. Approval needs at least one awarded trade, each with a qualification. Approving adds the awarded trades and accepted assessors and moderators to the centre and e-mails the accreditation report (PDF) to the centre's contact. Send accreditation report sends it again.
An application with no trades captured shows Incomplete application on the list instead of an action.
