Mandatory grants (WSP/ATR) — overview for SDFs and employers

The end-to-end path from SDF registration to an approved WSP/ATR.

Employers qualify for Mandatory Grants by submitting a Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) through a registered Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) before the MG window closes (the closing date is shown on the LMIS home page).

The process on LMIS has five stages:

  1. Register as an SDF and complete the SDF profile — Register as an SDF.
  2. Apply for SDF approval for the financial year and upload the appointment letter — Register as an SDF.
  3. Register the company you are submitting for: main company, provincial profile, training committee, sector priority occupation interventions, hard-to-fill vacancies, skills gaps, declaration — Register the company for a WSP/ATR.
  4. Capture the WSP/ATR: employees, interventions, training completed and planned, documents, then submit — Capture and submit the WSP/ATR.
  5. Track the submission on the WSP Summary tab and respond to any query — Track your WSP/ATR and request an extension.
Note

A company that has already been captured as a main company or subsidiary in the active WSP period cannot be added by another SDF. If you receive this error, contact the SETA to confirm who the appointed SDF is.

Once the SETA has approved your application you may also appoint a secondary SDF — see Add a secondary SDF.
